Dive Team
About the Dive TeamThe Palisades Dive Team is a great way to learn to dive, improve your diving,
or perfect Dive on In!Whether your child has never jumped off a diving board or has past experience, the Palisades Dive Team will be a fun, social, and exciting activity for them to be involved in this summer. Children from 6 to 18 years old are welcome to develop this challenging and rewarding sport and be a part of a fun team. Whatever your skill level, we can help you improve! When are practices and meets?Practices are weekdays, with times shifting during the season. They start Tuesday, May 27 and run weekdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. After June 12, practice times switch to Monday through Friday: 3-4 p.m. or 5:30 to 7 p.m. Divers can select which practice fits their schedules best and you do not have to be at every practice to be on the team. Divers will receive both land and water training. This year Palisades will be in Division 5 and will host three home meets and attend two away meets. All meets are Sunday afternoons starting at 5 p.m., with Monday rain dates, if necessary. Todd is a Sophomore at Walt Whitman High School. Todd has been diving since he was 8 years old. What is the cost of the dive team? The participating fee for the dive program is $65 per diver for the first diver, and $50 for each additional diver in the same family. Can my child participate on both swim and dive teams?Yes, practice times and diving meets are scheduled so that kids can participate in both activities without conflicts. Parent ParticipationLike the swim team, parents are need to be regularly and directly involved to make this program successful. Assistance will be needed from parents at the five dive meets and the divisional and all-start championship. Volunteer jobs included scorers, referees, selling refreshments, and ribbon writing. In particular, the Palisades dive team really needs diving officials (judges, scorers, referees). There will be three clinics for parent volunteer officials in June to train.
