Pool RemindersNotice to Soccer and Sports TeamsMember’s children who participate in soccer clinics and camps at nearby parks during the summer are not permitted to bring the entire team to use the pool facilities on a daily basis. Members are not allowed to use guest passes for soccer teams or other groups for daily visits to the pool. A one-time sports team party is fine and falls under party rules but daily visits (even with guest cards) are prohibited. Members not following these guidelines risk jeopardizing their membership privileges. Please review the preseason reminders on page 8 concerning parties and other pool rules. Pool Area/Picnic GroundsAll eating and drinking is to be done in the designated picnic area. Light refreshments only are allowed to be consumed at the tables on the upper deck. Remember, no glass is allowed anywhere on the pool grounds. The charcoal grills are available for members’ use in the picnic area and Palisades supplies the charcoal which is kept in the guards room. Members will have to bring their own fire starters. Diving SafetyDiving is permitted only from the diving boards or into the “well” area when it is open. Diving into the rest of the main pool, the training pool, and the wading pool is not permitted. No swimmer in the well is permitted when the diving boards are in use. No one is allowed to wait for a diver in the water below. Use of the Main PoolOnly children 5 and older who are able to swim one length of the 25 meter pool or are tall enough to stand on the bottom of the pool are permitted in the main pool. If the middle pool is closed, children 4 and younger may go into the main pool accompanied by a swimming adult (age 15 or over) who is within arms length at all times. Diaper Clad Children “Montgomery County Health Code” requires that children in diapers must wear rubber pants (a separate and distinct article of clothing) over an under garment of diapers (cloth/plastic/swimmies). There can be no exceptions! One accident can result in the pool being closed for up to 8 hours at a time. The guards, pool management, and the Board will be adamant on strict compliance. Audio Sound SystemsAll audio sound systems shall be used only with earphones or headsets. No amplified music is allowed at any private party. (DJ’s, bands, etc.) Use of Toys and Objects in PoolsThe Association allows face masks, fins, and kickboards in the pools. Other items are not permitted in the pools, except for the wading pool. Snorkels may be used with the permission of the lifeguards. Small items such as noodles and soft toys are permitted on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. until closing. Flotation DevicesFlotation devices such as tubes, water wings etc. are not permitted. Life vests which are strapped to a child are allowed. A responsible adult must remain in the water within arm’s length of the child wearing the life vest at all times. Swim and Dive MeetsDuring the summer, the swim and dive team will host home events which impact pool usage. During Wednesday evening swim meets, the main pool will be closed to members during the meet. The training and wading pool will remain open for members’ use. The dive team will host three Sunday evening meets this summer. The diving well area is closed to members during the meet and the main pool is open for quiet lap swimming only. The training and wading pool will remain open during the meet. There are three home Saturday morning swim meets this season. The pool will open one hour later on these dates to facilitate cleanup.
